zero to nothing is a series I began in Brooklyn and continued on Hydra at THE SITE. The paintings explore crowds and collective experience in a suspended moment—the eye of a storm—when something beautiful or awful could happen. While the work departs from the landscapes and communities that informed my Appalachia paintings, it continues my interest in human gatherings and the tension of what comes next. Created within and in response to the ruins where I am currently working, the paintings are physically embedded in the site itself: canvases are affixed to weathered plaster walls, and jute is stretched across scaffolding, allowing the architecture, wind, and history of this Greek island to become part of the work.
